The Service Nobody Asks About
Everyone who books with me knows what waxing is. Most know roughly what laser does.
Almost nobody asks about grooming, which is a shame, because for a lot of people it is the service that actually fits.
Grooming at MAIR Care Inc. means two things: shaving and trimming. Neither removes hair from the root, and neither is as simple as it sounds.
Shaving and Trimming Are Not the Same Thing
Shaving takes the hair down to the skin. Smooth to the touch, nothing left standing.
Trimming shortens the hair and leaves it there. You keep the hair, it just stops being the loudest thing in the room.
People pick trimming more often than you would expect, and usually for one of these reasons:
- they like having body hair and want it tidy, not gone
- a partner prefers shorter rather than bare
- shaving the chest itches on the way back in and trimming does not
- they want to test a shorter look before committing to bare
This Is Not One Guard and a Straight Line
There is a version of this service that takes four minutes. Pick a guard, run it over everything, collect the money.
That is not what happens here.
Body hair does not grow at one length or in one direction. Density changes across the chest, direction changes over the shoulder blade, and everything thins out where it meets the arm. Running a single guard over all of that gives you a flat, uniform finish that looks exactly like what it is, which is a machine that was not paying attention.
The goal is that nobody can tell anything was done. Clean, tidy, and above all natural, as though your hair simply grows that way.
I see the other version constantly:
- patches missed where the skin curves
- a hard line across the shoulder where someone stopped
- one length everywhere, so the whole thing reads as artificial
- the front done properly and the back clearly rushed
I am a perfectionist and I will take the time it takes. That is the actual service, and it is the reason it is worth paying for.
Blending Is Where the Work Is
Blending is what stops a treated area from having a border.
When you shave or trim one area and stop, you get a line. A hard edge where treated meets untreated, and it looks exactly like what it is.
Blending tapers that edge across a gradient, so there is no point where you can say the work started. Chest into stomach. Back into shoulders. Groin into thigh.
It is not limited to grooming. I blend waxed and lasered areas for the same reason, because a perfectly bare chest sitting against an untouched stomach looks stranger than either would on its own. There is an extra charge when blending is added to a wax or laser appointment, and it is the single thing clients thank me for most often afterwards.
The Back Is the Whole Reason
If there is one honest answer to why people pay someone else to do this, it is the back.
You cannot see it. You cannot reach the middle of it. Every attempt with a mirror and a razor held backwards ends the same way, which is unevenly, and usually with a nick somewhere you cannot reach to deal with.
The buttocks and groin are the second answer, for the same geometry and with higher stakes.
What It Costs
Grooming is priced by area, and the full table is on the grooming page. A few anchors so you know the shape of it:
- a full back shave runs $40, or $50 with shoulders
- chest, stomach or shoulders are $25 each
- underarms are $10
- a full body shave is $180, or $200 including the BROzilian
- trimming runs slightly cheaper across the board
- blending is $20 per body part

When Waxing and Laser Are Not on the Table
Not everyone wants to be waxed. Not everyone wants laser.
Some people cannot tolerate the pain. Some have skin conditions or medications that rule it out. Some simply do not want hair removed from the root, and some are not ready to commit to a course of treatment that runs for months.
Trimming is the next best thing, and I mean that as a real recommendation rather than a consolation prize. It does not last as long as the alternatives. It still has its place, and for the person who wants to look tidy without signing up for anything, it is the right answer rather than the fallback.
The Honest Downsides
This is temporary. That is not a criticism, it is the entire point, but you should book it knowing what you are buying.
What to expect:
- regrowth in a couple of days, not a couple of weeks
- a blunt tip on every hair, which feels coarser even though the hair has not changed
- no reduction over time, because the follicle is untouched
- the same ingrown and razor bump risk that shaving always carries
That third point is the one worth sitting with. Laser and electrolysis get you closer to done every session. Shaving gets you exactly one week of results, forever.

The Myth About Thicker Regrowth
Shaving does not make hair grow back thicker, darker or faster. It has never done that.
What actually happens is that a razor cuts the hair square across its widest point, so the tip you feel is blunt rather than tapered. Blunt reads as coarse. The hair itself is identical.
Who This Actually Suits
Grooming makes sense in more situations than people assume:
- before a trip, a wedding, a shoot or a competition
- anyone who wants shorter rather than gone
- anyone who cannot comfortably reach their own back
- athletes who need it repeatable and quick
- anyone who does not want waxing or laser at all
- people who are not ready to try waxing and want to see the look first
- laser clients between sessions
That last one is not obvious, so it is worth spelling out. Laser needs the area shaved before treatment, because the light has to reach the follicle rather than burning the hair above the skin. If shaving your own back is the thing standing between you and your appointment, book it as a service and stop fighting it.
Bottom Line
Shaving takes it off. Trimming shortens it. Blending is what makes either one look like it grew that way.
None of it is permanent, and none of it pretends to be. What it is instead is fast, precise, reachable in places you cannot reach, and genuinely available to people who do not want wax or laser at all.
The finish is the part I care about. The most common thing I hear at the end of one of these appointments is that it looks perfect, and I will happily take that feather in my hat.
